Telamon Robotics Partners with VU to Launch High-Tech Cobot Lab
Published: October 27, 2022
CARMEL, INDIANA – October 27, 2022– Telamon Robotics is proud to partner with Vincennes University in the creation of their new Center for Applied Robotics and Automation. The state-of-the-art 4,000-square-foot facility is equipped with 12 collaborative robots (cobots) that will provide students with hands-on experience working with these advanced robotic devices. The cobots are designed to work alongside humans and perform repetitive tasks, making them ideal for use in manufacturing settings.
VU’s new Center for Applied Robotics and Automation was made possible through an $8 million grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. and the partnership with Telamon Robotics. The facility is just one of three new high technology labs recently opened at the VU College of Technology Center that will prepare students for future careers in robotics and automation.
In addition to the cobot lab, VU’s new 2,300-square-foot CNC machining technology center, created in partnership with Hurco Companies, features 17 new CNC mills and lathes. The university’s 2,900-square-foot 3D printing center offers a variety of printers that can create items from filament, resin, and metal. These cutting-edge labs provide students with access to the latest technologies, giving them the skills they need to succeed in today’s highly competitive job market.
“We are excited to provide our students with these state-of-the-art facilities that will help them prepare for the needs of industry partners in the state of Indiana and beyond,” said VU President Chuck Johnson. “The new labs will enhance the educational experiences of our students and provide them with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce for years to come.”
VU College of Technology Dean Ty Freed added, “The lab spaces are designed to meet the needs of our industry partners, and Indiana is a major player in manufacturing. By providing students with access to the latest technology, we are helping to ensure that Indiana remains at the forefront of this critical industry.
